the air we breathe travel through the mouth and being exposed to all these conditions mouth and teeth are prone to several health problems and diseases quite often. Smoking, eating junk foods, not washing teeth properly and chewing tobacco (especially in rural areas in countries like India and Pakistan) are the major activities causing damage to the mouth and teeth.
The infections caused to mouth and teeth will enter other parts of the body so easily because they are at the main entrance for food and air we take in. Here in this post i am going to provide you some useful tips and suggestions to take care of your mouth and teeth.Lets divide this discussion with three categories which represents three ages- infants (children), teens and adults.
tips and suggestions for infants and children:
1.First think you must do is to teach your children how to brush their teeth and try to explain them the importance of keeping the mouth and teeth
clean.
2.For children under 2 years of age don’t use the tooth paste rather use water to wash their mouth.
3.Clean new teeth everyday and use wet cloth for cleaning and when the teeth become bigger use childrens toothbrush.
4.Most important thing is that don’t let your baby go to sleep with a bottle in mouth.
5.Don’t encourage to many chocolates or sweets rather give fruits ,cheese or vegetables for elder children.
6. Regularly take your children to dentist.
tips and suggestions for teens:
1.Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride tooth paste.
2.Don’t smoke or chew tobacco which will lead to cancers as well as stain your teeth and give bad smell to your mouth.
3.At least once a day floss your teeth.
4.As most of the teens play sports and games it is always safe to use headgear especially in dangerous games.
5.Regularly visit dentist for cleaning and checkup.
tips and suggestions for adults:
1. For adults the points are same as suggested
for teens and an important point to be added here is that you should regularly check your mouth for irritating gums, sores which are not healing and other abnormal changes.
2.Diabetics should be very cautious regarding cleaning teeth and mouth.
Further if you face any serious problems , immediately consult dentist for treatment and medication.
