“Hair loss” – I think this is one of the most disliked words for any person living in this world. Sometimes it is really worried to see people having so many misconceptions regarding their hair loss and to be frank i was one among those people so i have come up with this post to share my experiences which i hope will be handy to all the readers of this blog.
is stress related to hair loss?
true - shock or stress cause by death in the family or surgery, can stop hair production leading to temporary hair loss. note: scalp recovers completely and hair grows normally.
exposure to sun continuously contribute to hair loss?
false – remember that hair acts as a shield against the sun and as hair loss is related to the follicle level it is difficult for the sun light to pass deep to that level t cause any damage.
is anyway diet related to hair loss?
true – absolutely diet has very important role in maintaining condition of hair so it is important to eat healthy foods and ensure that your body is getting sufficient vitamins and minerals .
does frequent cutting leads to fast and /or thick growth of hair?
false - this is misunderstood because hair is thicker at the base than it is at the tip, so after a hair cut one can falsely misinterpret that his/her hair becoming thick, remember that hair cut is no way related to growth or texture of hair .
is it real that some hairstyles can lead to hair loss?
true - any hairstyles that put too much tension on hair can lead to hair loss (for example : tight plaits, corn-rows, winding hair too tightly to heated rollers)
does wearing a cap or wig causes hair loss?
false - hair root is nourished and maintained by the blood supply in the scalp so it doesn’t have to get any thing from the atmosphere. Hair loss or damage to hair is seen when the wig or cap is tightly worn.
heated brushes and blow drying can increase hair loss?
true - hair proteins can get damaged to extreme heat making hair to become weak and finally leading hair break off. During blow-drying brushing hair regularly causes hair damage because hair is stretched more when wet. Use ( care less ) of any heated hair tools can permanently damage the hair follicles by damaging the scalp.
is frequent shampooing a cause to hair fall?
false - washing with shampoo only removes the hair that has already fallen and to be more informative if you are the person who use shampoo daily then better to use mild shampoos rather than powerful ones as chemicals some times may effect your scalp. note that try to maintain the shampoo brand rather than changing is very often.
brushing hair 90 times a day can stimulate scalp circulation and prevent hair loss?
false - hair is injured if brushed vigorously and hair loss may also increase .
is color treatment related to hair loss?
true - most of the hair coloring products contain chemicals that can cause damage to hair if not used properly but it can be controlled by using strand tests by knowing the potential problems. Usually in extreme cases (color treatment) only we find the hair loss.
