10 tips to prevent and stop snoring

There are severe and mild types of snoring where severe type snoring is problematic since it leads to sleep apnea, so consult your doctor immediately. When compared to severe type milder type snoring is not so dangerous and can be controlled by simple home remedies.
First let’s know the reason for snoring – “The airway in the nose and throat get smaller due to more tissue or if there is loose tissue which makes difficult to breathe due to resistance. This resistance leads to vibrations which we call – snoring”.
Here are those 10 tips and methods…..
1. Try to sleep without a pillow and the reason for this is pillow with block the airway by bending the neck and creates disturbance in breathing.
2. Be away from smoking as well from people who are smoking and this will help you to be away from smoke and dust and also in keeping your airways clean.
3. Avoid fatty foods (dairy foods) before going to bed. They produce mucous buildups in throat and thus reduce the pathway and increase the snoring.
4. Don’t drink alcohol, take sleeping pills or antihistamines right before going to sleep as they relax your muscles and decrease your air way passage.
5. Follow regular sleep routine which is very helpful.
6. If you are over weight try to decrease your weight and be fit – the reason for this is “less fatty tissue will create more room in the airway passage and leading to better sleep.
7. Sleep on your side instead on your back.
8. Elevate your bed – elevating your head by 4 inches will help in causing your jaw and tongue to drop forward and this helps in opening the airway.
9. Use anti-snoring pills or anti-snoring nasal spray.
10. There are exercises that can help in strengthening your throat muscles and this is best method for controlling severe type of snoring.
